Dear Sir,
The Malcomizizing process is a process that will passivate the surface of stainless steels prior to nitriding. It was specifically designed for use on stainless steels. Many potential users believe that it is a process that is applicable to all nitridable steels. It is a proprietary proccess that was developed quite a number of years ago. Pulsed Plasma nitriding will prepare any steel surface, including all of the stainless steels. A very simple anology would be, the lower the alloy content, the easier it is to nitride, however the lower the surface hardness. The higher the alloy, the more difficult it is to nitride, however the higher the hardness.
In addition to this, the immediate surface metallurgy can be controlled and created to produce the metallurgy that best suites the part application. I trust that this will assist you.
Best Regards to you, David
